VanWineFest 2026: A Taste of France at LaSalle College

Taste of France at LaSalle College
Taste of France at LaSalle College

On a lighter tone, at VanWineFest 2026, I had a chance to attend a walk-about lunch at LaSalle College Vancouver; French bistro fare prepared and served by LaSalle students, while sampling a selection of French wines representing seven French wine regions.  Below is a list of the French wines followed by the menu.  No wine reviews here, just some general comments about the event and pictures to make you hungry and thirsty.

LaSalle College students, in conjunction with their instructors, I assume, arranged the food pairings to these French wines.  Overall it was a fun, tasty event.

I really enjoyed the Bœuf Bourguignon and Saumon Fumé à chaud, having to try them several times.  I selected wines which I thought would be the appropriate pairings with the dishes and I was not disappointed.  Again pointing to the Bœuf Bourguignon, the Louis Jadot Beaujolais-Villages Combe aux Jacques 2024, was excellent together.  The Saumon Fumé à chaud also paired nicely with both Chablis wines.
