Introducing BC’s Newest Winery: Chapter Estates Winery

Chapter Estates Winery
Chapter Estates Winery

Have you heard about the Fraser Valley‘s latest winery opening?  I attended the soft opening of Chapter Estates Winery, located in the Langley area.  They have a vineyard at the winery, plus a restaurant so you can enjoy wine and food.  A great way to have a weekday or weekend escape.  Here is some background information about the winery, my review of the wines I tasted, and a few food and wine pairings I enjoyed.

About Chapter Estates Winery

The winery began as a family project in 2019 by Cindy and Ryan Moreno. According to the winery info on the web, they brought together local experts, vineyard visionaries, and one incredibly talented winemaker with decades of experience across Europe, the Okanagan, and the Fraser Valley <Karl:  I am guessing Pascal Madevon.>.

With the experts, they hand picked every block, studied every inch of soil, and carefully introduced vitis vinifera from around the world, plus a few surprises that have never been planted in the valley before. It’s a labour of love for Cindy and Ryan that they hope will root and last for generations to come.

A Few Food and Wine Pairings

Salmon Mousse Cone, FVSP Smoked Duck Breast, and Croque Madam from Chapter Estates Winery
Salmon Mousse Cone, FVSP Smoked Duck Breast, and Croque Madam from Chapter Estates Winery

I ordered their Salmon Mousse Cone and FVSP Smoked Duck Breast from their Bites menu and their Croque Madam from the main menu.  The Mockery 2022 rosé wine overall was my favourite wine to pair with food.  It paired nicely with both the Salmon Mousse Cone and the FVSP Smoked Duck Breast.  The red fruit and acidity from the wine paired with the salmon and cream cheese in the cone, as well as smokiness and the fattiness in the duck breast.  The Mockery 2022 also paired nicely with the Croque Madam, again with the acidity cutting through the melted cheese and the egg in the sandwich.  I enjoyed the Duck Breast with the full body and ripe flavours of the Coveted 2022.  The Prologue White 2022 made a complementary pairing with the Salmon Mousse Cone.  Give these a try when you visit the winery.
