In my earlier article, I reviewed some zero percent alcohol wine products from Jackson-Triggs. These wines were released in part due to a study which showed peoples’ preferences toward lower alcohol wine, or zero alcohol wines. In this article, I am reviewing three lower alcohol wines that Jackson-Triggs has produced. The wines are a non-vintage Cabernet Sauvignon, a Rosé, and a Pinot Grigio. The back label for the three wines note that the wines are made in Oliver, BC. The Rosé is at 8.5% alcohol while the Cabernet Sauvignon and Pinot Grigio wines are at 9%. All three wines have 25% less alcohol than their regular Rosé, Cabernet Sauvignon and Pinot Grigio. How do these lighter wines taste? Here are my initial wine tasting notes.

Jackson Triggs Proprietors’ Selection Light Cabernet Sauvignon pours a clear deep garnet with medium aromas of blackberries, sweet berries, a touch of meatiness and light sweet spice. The palate is dryish with a smooth, lighter mouthfeel, showing juicy blackberries, black fruit and plums with gentle acidity and tannins that gain a bit more grip with air. It finishes at a medium-plus length with ripe blackberry flavours and lightly drying tannins, picking up a faint bitterness on the close after decanting.
The alcohol does make a big difference in mouthfeel, compared to the zero percent alcohol wines that I tasted for my previous article. The wines are much rounder and softer.
