Have you ever attended ChefmeetsBCGrape before? It is a great event where you get to try BC VQA wines, and wonderful food produced by top BC chefs. The dishes prepared are from Ocean Wise partner restaurants, which is good IMHO as I want to support ocean-friendly seafood choices. This event is held in Vancouver.
When you check the list of BC wineries below, it is very impressive. There are wineries from across BC, not just the Okanagan. But also with all these wineries pouring wines, it might be good for you to plan which wineries you want to try, or which region, or which grape varieties. You will never be able to try them all, so planning is essential. A few wineries that I’ll be visiting for various reasons will be:
- Clos du Soleil Winery
- Fort Berens Estate Winery
- Kalala Organic Estate Winery (Quality organically produced wines)
- Meyer Family Vineyards (try their Chardonnay or Pinot Noir)
- Moon Curser Vineyards (try their Syrah)
- Moraine Estate Winery
- Nk’Mip Cellars
- Noble Ridge Vineyard & Winery
- Okanagan Crush Pad Winery
- Quinta Ferreira Estate Winery
- Sperling Vineyards
- Spierhead Winery
- Stag’s Hollow Winery & Vineyard
- Stoneboat Vineyards (try their Pinotage)
- Tantalus Vineyards (try their Riesling)
- The View Winery
- Thornhaven Estates Winery
- Wild Goose Vineyards & Winery
Here is the info about the upcoming event on September 20.
~~~
ChefmeetsBCGrape, the largest annual celebration of BC VQA wines and local food, is once again coming to Vancouver! On Thursday, September 20, 75 BC wineries will be sharing more than 300 BC VQA wines, perfectly paired with regional dishes from top Ocean Wise partner restaurants, and showcasing why BC food is designed for BC wine.
This year, guests will enjoy 100% BC wines from across the province and sample dishes from top chefs in Vancouver, the Fraser Valley and the Okanagan Valley. With regionality as this year’s theme, the restaurants will compete for the honour of “Judges’ Choice” with appetizer-sized portions of dishes using BC ingredients, paired with their select BC VQA wines. Back again is the fan-favourite raw bar, sponsored by the BC Shellfish Festival, featuring wine pairings perfect for fresh BC seafood.
