Domaine Fourrey is bringing their Chablis wines to the Vancouver International Wine Festival. As we all know, Chablis is from Chardonnay, and that the soil and climate play a very important part of what makes these wines special. Jean-Luc Fourrey will be in attendance at the Festival and will be at all public International Festival Tasting Room sessions, at Passport to Global Wines, and Taste of France at LaSalle.
Here is some information about Domaine Fourrey in their own words.
About Domaine Fourrey
Domaine Fourrey is a family-run estate covering 25 hectares, located in the heart of Chablis, in Milly (89800). Transmitted through four generations, the estate perpetuates a winemaking expertise rooted in the history of Chablis. Today, Jean Luc Fourrey continues this family heritage with high standards and passion. He has developed the sale of bottled wine. The estate’s wines express with precision and sincerity the unique identity of the Chablis terroirs.
Domaine Fourrey mainly produces white wines made from Chardonnay grapes, emblematic of the Chablis identity, and also produces a limited-edition red wine made from Burgundy Pinot Noir grapes (the plot is 10 kms far from Chablis).
Each wine is vinified with precision to reveal the minerality, freshness, and elegance specific to each terroir. Our wines regularly receive awards in national and international magazines.
Vineyard Management
Domaine Fourrey belongs to the Independent Winegrowers family. It is committed to environmentally friendly viticulture. The estate has been HVE (High Environmental Value) certified since 2017, and the vineyard is currently converting to organic farming. The vineyard is managed using a rational and careful approach, based on a balance between
tradition and modernity, with a deep respect for the vines, the soil, and all living things.
Harvesting Methods
Harvesting methods are tailored to each plot: manual for young vines and Grand Crus, mechanical for others. The grapes are harvested when they strike the perfect balance between fruit and acidity.
In the cellar, winemaking is precise and minimally interventionist. Most of the wines are vinified in temperature-controlled stainless-steel vats to preserve the purity of the fruit and the expression of the terroir. The estate’s wines are aged taking into account the specific characteristics of each vintage. Jean-Luc focuses on precision, elegance, and minerality, the hallmarks of great Chablis wines.
