Evolve Sparkling House Rosé Two WaysPR SAMPLE

TIME Family of Wines has evolved since 2020 when Ron and Shelley Mayert became the owners.  Evolve Sparkling House is one of the labels under the TIME Family of Wines umbrella. Their aim is to ensure growth of the established business and reputation which has been carried by the McWatters family for decades.

I received three sparkling and one still rosé wine to review for you.  Today, I tasted Evolve’s still rosé wine, Evolve Sparkling House Rosé 2023, and their sparkling wine, Evolve Sparkling House Brut Rosé 2018, so we can see two ways of enjoying rosé wine and the different methods used to make these rosé wines.  Let me tell you about them.

My Wine Tasting Notes

Evolve Sparkling House Rosé 2023 (BC $29.99)

Winemaker’s notes, “Handpicked and carefully sorted from a single site in Osoyoos, this wine showcases the remarkable strength of Syrah grapes to achieve a beautifully structured Rosé with bright acidity, subtle spice, and a core of vibrant red berry fruit. The grapes are whole-bunch pressed with no skin contact, resulting in a delicate and luminous hue that captivates the eye. The fermentation process unfolds in a stainless-steel tank over three weeks, allowing the wine’s vibrant characteristics to shine brilliantly. Bottled early to capture and preserve its freshness, this exceptional expression elegantly reflects the unique profile of its terroir.”

Appearance: A bright, clear, medium intensity peach skin colour.
Nose: Medium-minus intensity aromas of strawberry, bramble leaf, and a hint of citrus.  The aromas jump up to medium-plus intensity after decanting, and strawberry aroma is most prominent.
Palate: Dry, medium-plus body with a thick, round, buttery, soft mouthfeel.  Low acidity.  A mix of red fruits plus some grape stem bitterness on the palate.  Very light tannins.  The acidity moves up to medium after decanting and the butteriness on the palate is more pronounced.
Finish:  A medium-plus length finishing with red fruit and grape stem flavours. Same flavours, but you can add light pepperiness after decanting.

A heavier Rosé wine with light acidity and medium fruit flavours.  Decanting opens up the aromatics a bit and the acidity shows a bit stronger.  Decant if you prefer.

Evolve Sparkling House Brut Rosé 2018 (BC $49.99)

Winemaker’s notes, “This elegant sparkling wine is crafted using the traditional method. Hand-harvested and sorted grapes are whole-bunch pressed to extract the purest juice. Comprising 50% Chardonnay, 40% Pinot Noir, 9% Pinot Blanc, and a delicate touch of 1% Syrah, each varietal is fermented separately before being thoughtfully combined prior to bottling. Following the secondary fermentation in the bottle, the wine is aged for an impressive 5 years on its lees, cultivating depth and complexity.”

Appearance:  This wine has a clear, bright medium intensity peach skin colour, like the still rosé wine. Lots of tiny bubbles form when being poured, but they dissipate quickly.  Persistent tiny bubbles in the glass.
Nose: It has pronounced aromas of red fruits, lees, and strawberries.
Palate: It is dry, full-bodied with many tiny, creamy bubbles.  Swirling the wine really brings out the bubbles in the glass. Light tannins and high acidity.  Red fruits along with touches of lees, red cherries, and peaches on the palate.  With some air, you also get red apple and bruised red apple flavours.
Finish: Medium-plus to long length, finishing with tart red fruits, a touch of grape stem bitterness, plus red cherries, peach, and red apple.

No decanting notes for sparkling wines, as you don’t want the sparkle to go away.  Open and enjoy this wine.  It is delicious.

Rating: ****.******  Evolve Sparkling House Brut Rosé 2018 shows a bright peach skin colour with persistent fine bubbles. The nose is pronounced with red fruits, lees, and strawberries, while the dry, full-bodied palate offers creamy bubbles, high acidity, and flavours of red fruits, cherries, peaches, and later red apple. It finishes medium-plus to long with tart red fruits, grape stem bitterness, and notes of cherry, peach, and red apple.

Other Notes

You may notice the unique glass that I used for this sparkling wine.  It is a Josephinenhütte No 4 glass meant for Champagne.  This wine is made in the traditional method, so would be perfect for the wine.  The unique bulge really brought out the bubbles when I swirled this sparkling wine in the glass.

So, you can see that even though both wines are listed as rose, one is 100% Syrah, while the other is a blend of five different grapes, some white and some red.  Combining different grapes into a blend, gives you the best of all worlds.  For example, Chardonnay can provide fine bubbles as well as citrus or apple flavours, depending on the ripeness of the grapes, while Pinot Noir can offer red fruits and floral.  Neither grape on their own can offer this wide variety of flavours or textures.  I really enjoyed the flavours and creamy tiny bubbles from the sparkling Brut Rosé.
