Gérard Bertrand Winery is the ambassador of the fine wines of Languedoc-Roussillon around the world. Gérard Bertrand owns 16 estates with their unique terroirs in the region. The Languedoc has been growing grapes for wines for 24 centuries (Greeks planted grapes around 550 BC) and produces 5% of the world’s wine. Gérard has loved his vineyard land passionately and enthusiastically for over 30 years and is a strong promoter of biodynamic viticulture. It shows in his wines.
At VanWineFest 2024, I spoke with Jean-Philippe Turgeon, Director Canada, for Gérard Bertrand. He poured three excellent red wines for me; their Heritage An 1152 Cahors Malbec 2020, Chateau L’Hospitalet La Clape Grand Vin 2020, and La Forge 2021. Listen to Jean-Philippe as he talks about these wines with me and the winery’s winemaking philosophy.
