One of the highlights of the Vancouver International Wine Festival 2023 was the International Festival Tasting Room where 147 wineries from around the world were pouring their wines for you to try. Plus, there was a winery principal for you to talk to about their wines. This year the theme region for the Festival was South America, so we had many wines from Argentina and Chile, plus lesser amounts of wines from Uruguay, Brasil, and Bolivia. I spent most of my time tasting wines from South America and a little time visiting the rest of the world wineries. Sorry BC, but I did not visit any of your tables as I see you at other events throughout the year. Below are my top wine selections from the International Festival Tasting Room. Enjoy!

I selected Malbecs from Argentina, Carmenere and Cabernet Sauvignon from Chile most often as my favourite wines from the Southern Hemisphere. Sauvignon Blanc was the most selected white varietal, coming from Chile. I think most of the Sauvignon Blanc wines I tried that I enjoyed were from the cool-climate Leyda Valley in Chile.
