This is a very timely article about the Summerhill Pyramid Winery Organic Syrah 2019 that I am tasting because it is being released to the public this week. If you are a vegan, this wine is vegan-friendly. This wine is also Canada Organic certified.
My Wine Tasting Notes
Summerhill Pyramid Winery Organic Syrah 2019 (BC $TBD)

Appearance: a deep, yet translucent to the core ruby colour in the glass.
Nose: A medium-plus intensity nose with a lively fresh fruit nose. Plums, blackberries and blueberries, plus sweet spices, a touch of oak, and freshly cracked black peppercorn aromas. With a bit of swirling you get more dark fruit aromas. You get more dark fruit aromas with decanting, and the black pepper goes away.
Palate: Dry, lighter-bodied, semi-round, with a lighter mouthfeel. Higher acidity and very faint tannins. You get tart purple fruit, blueberries, plums and blackberry flavours. A touch of floral and chocolate with air. With decanting the wine feels fuller-bodied and rounder, and you still get some lightness in the mouthfeel. The tannins are still very light in intensity after decanting. The fruit tastes a little sweeter, and there are touches of floral and vanilla.
Finish: A medium length finishing again with faint tannins. Tart red fruits flavours. More acidity than tannins on the finish.
A very young fresh wine. A little more bottle time may help round out the mouthfeel. The wine is a bit rounder and less tart fruits with decanting. You can drink this wine now, but I suggest ageing it for a few years first.
Rating: –
A lovely fresh fruit nose; plums, spices, blackberries and black pepper upon opening. Dry and lighter-bodied. More acidity than tannin driven for structure. A mix of tart purple fruits, plums, blackberries and blueberries. Decant for more roundness.
