The FIFA World Cup starts June 11, 2026, with Canada’s first game on June 12th against Bosnia and Herzegovina. As we play and win games, which sparkling wine will you be drinking to celebrate our wins?
Champagne Taittinger has been awarded the Official Champagne of the FIFA World Cup 2026. Their special edition FIFA Brut Reserve Champagne is available across Canada. A total of 350,000 bottles were produced and allocated on a first-come, first-served basis across Canada, USA, and Mexico. The 2026 bottle features a sleek black finish accented by holographic gradients in the signature colors of the host nations: red for Canada, green for Mexico and blue for the United States. Its design echoes the movement of a ball and the stitching of a football, enhanced by vibrant textures and light effects that evoke the intensity and adrenaline of the game.
I received a bottle of this special, limited edition Champagne to try and review for you. Let me tell you about it.
My Wine Tasting Notes
Champagne Taittinger Brut Reserve FIFA Edition (BC $114.99)
It is a blend of 40% Chardonnay, 35% Pinot Noir, and 25% Pinot Meunier grapes. About 20% of the blend is made up of older reserve wines, which are added to guarantee consistent flavour, body, and the characteristic house style. The bottles are aged on their lees in Taittinger’s chalk cellars for a minimum of 3 years to build complexity, aromatic maturity, and a fine, creamy texture. Following disgorgement, a liqueur d’expédition is added at a dosage of about 10 g/L to balance the natural acidity of the wine.

Appearance: It is a clear, bright, medium intensity lemon colour in the glass. Effusive bubbles when I opened the bottle.
Nose: Medium-minus intensity aromas of toast, lees, and apples.
Palate: This sparkling wine is dry, medium-plus body with medium-minus sized biting bubbles that fill your mouth. Medium-plus acidity leaves a light acidic prickle in your mouth. Apples, white flowers, citrus pith, peach and pear flavours, plus light pepperiness on the palate. Subtle minerality.
Finish: A medium length, finishing with apple and citrus pith, plus light pepperiness and minerality. The light acidic prickle lasts till the end.
