Chardonnay wines can vary in style and in intensity. Many people avoid Chardonnay as they were exposed to heavily oaked versions in the past. But there are many unoaked Chardonnay that you can enjoy. I received this bottle from the south Okanagan’s Gold Hill Winery of their Charisma Un-Oaked Chardonnay 2022 to review for you. It has four years of age on it, but you can’t tell. Here are my tasting notes for this wine.
My Wine Tasting Notes
Charisma Un-Oaked Chardonnay 2022 (BC $19.99)

Appearance: A bright, clear, medium intensity lemon colour in the glass.
Nose: Medium intensity aromas of stone fruits, pear and peach in particular, plus some blossom and flintiness. The aromas are a little lighter after decanting. There is more peach aroma and less flint.
Palate: It is dry, medium-plus body with a thick, fuller mouthfeel. Citrus, peaches and pears, and flintiness on the palate. Bright acidity leaving a medium acidic prickle on your tongue. The fruit flavours and the flintiness are more subdued after decanting.
Finish: Medium-plus length finishing with citrus, peaches, some pepperiness and grape stem flavours. No change to the finish after decanting.
No need to decant this wine. Fresh fruity flavours when first opened, with bright acidity and some flintiness.
