BC’s Ruby Blues Winery’s Sparkling Canned WinesPR SAMPLE

It is definitely beach and/or patio weather right now.  We want something refreshing to drink, preferably with bubbles.  Canned wines are still popular, being the right size to enjoy a 250ml can and not drink too much.  I received two different canned wines from BC’s Ruby Blues Winery from the Naramata Bench. I tasted their Ruby Blues Winery Sparkling Piquette Rose 2023 and their Peace, Love & Bubbles sparkling pink wine NV. Let me tell you about them.

My Wine Tasting Notes

Ruby Blues Winery Sparkling Piquette Rose 2023 (BC $28.60 4x 250ml)

One of the nice things about this Piquette is its low alcohol content of 6.5%.

Appearance: A bright, clear, medium-minus intensity orange-salmon colour.  Medium-sized bubbles in the glass.
Nose: Medium-plus intensity aromas with Gewurztraminer-like aromas; floral, spearmint, roses.
Palate: This wine is dry, lighter-bodied, lightly round.  Crisp light bubbles and light tannins.  Red fruit together with a touch of spearmint flavours.
Finish: Medium-plus length with a dry finish.  Red fruit flavours.  Medium-intensity drying tannins.

Rating: ****o A tasty sip with a light body, bright acidity and refreshing light bubbles.

Ruby Blues Winery Sparkling Piquette Rose 2023 and Peace, Love & Bubbles sparkling pink wine

Ruby Blues Winery Peace, Love & Bubbles sparkling pink wine NV (BC $33.60 4x 250ml)

This is the winery’s Frizzante-style rosé wine.

Appearance: Clear, medium-plus intensity salmon colour. Medium-sized bubbles.
Nose: Medium-minus intensity aromas of strawberries, strawberry leaf, and rhubarb.
Palate: This wine is dryish with medium-plus body, acidity and flavour intensity.  A mix of creamy and biting bubbles.  The bubbles do dissipate from the glass shortly after pouring.  Flavours of strawberries, rhubarb and red cherries.  Light tannins.
Finish: A medium length, finishing off-dry.  Rhubarb and strawberry flavours, plus some bitter grape stem.  Light tannins.

Rating: ***.* A straightforward pink (rosé) wine.  Red fruits and rhubarb aromas and flavours.
