Galileo Wine & Spirits Portfolio Wine Tasting

If you are a lover of French and Italian wines, then you should love the portfolio of wines from Galileo Wine & Spirits. There were so many excellent wines to choose from. Here are a few of the wines that I really appreciated. 

My Wine Tasting Notes

Chateau de Fuisse Macon-Village 2022, France – A medium lemon colour.  Fresh, medium-intensity stone fruit nose.  Medium plus body, dry with a round, thicker mouthfeel.  Dried stone fruits and a touch of oak on the palate. 4.5 stars

Chateau de Fuisse Saint-Veran 2021, France – A deep lemon colour with a fresh, ripe stone fruit nose.  Dry, lightly round with a thicker mouthfeel.  Ripe dried stone fruit flavours, apricots in particular, and a touch of oak.  Also a little tart.  Medium length. Quality. 4.5 stars

Zenato Lugana San Benedetto DOC 2022, Italy – A light lemon colour.  Citrus and green fruit aromas.  Smooth and round mouthfeel.  Medium-plus acidity.  Stone fruit and green fruit flavours. Medium-plus length. A tasty wine. 4.5 stars

Zenato Lugana Sergio Zenato DOC 2020, Italy – Medium length colour.  Light aromas of stone fruits and floral.  Dry with a round, soft thicker mouthfeel.  apple and butterscotch flavours along with a touch of pepperiness on the finish. 4.5 stars

Delamain Cognac Pale & Dry XO Grande Champagne Centenaire, France – A light apricot skin colour.  A very aromatic and sweet stone fruit nose.  Lighter body.  Very peppery.  Woody and peaches on the palate.  4.5 stars

Maison Riviere Fils, Chateau Lalande 2018, St. Julien, France – A deeper garnet colour.  Light earthy, red fruit and oak aromas.  Medium plus body, round and smooth on the palate.  Medium tannins and acidity.  A mix of red cherries and earthiness.  An understated wine.  4.5 stars

Maison Riviere Fils, Chateau de Callac 2018, Graves, France – A lighter garnet colour along with some bricking.  Medium-intensity aromas of red cherries and leather.  Dry, medium body with a lean mouthfeel.  Capsicum, leather, and cherries on the palate. Medium length with a dry finish.  An interesting wine. 4.5 stars

Maison Riviere Fils, Chateau Clos des Menuts 2018, St. Emilion, France – A medium garnet colour.  Medium-intensity aromas of red cherries, sweet spices and some funk that continues to the palate. Dry with a lean mouthfeel.  Firmer tannins.  Medium length. 85% Merlot based. A structured wine. 4.5 stars

Chateau de Fuisse Julienas-Domaine de la Conseillere 2018, France – A clear medium garnet colour in the glass.  Medium-intensity red fruits and Old World oak nose.  This wine is dry, with a lighter body and is lightly round.  Red fruit and oak.  Medium length.  A delicate wine. 4.5 stars

Domaine Jacques Prieur Beaune Champs-Pimont 1er Cru 2020, France – A deep clear mix of garnet and ruby colour.  Light aromas of red fruits, cinnamon, and cherries.  Medium body with a smooth and lean mouthfeel. Red cherries, cinnamon and some earthiness on the palate. Medium length. 4.5 stars

Villa Poggio Salvi Brunello di Montalcino Riserva DOCG 2017, Italy – A deeper translucent garnet colour.  Light red fruit, cherries and tar on the nose.  Dry, medium-plus body with a thicker mouthfeel.  Red fruit and tarriness on the palate.  Medium tannins.  Medium length with a firmer tannic finish. 4.5 stars

Zenato Sansonina Merlot IGT 2018, Italy – A dull, medium garnet colour.  Nice ripe red cherries and candied cherry aromas with more on the palate. A thicker, buttery mouthfeel.  Light flavours of red fruits.  Light acidity. Quality. 4.5 stars5 stars

Zenato Amarone Classico DOCG 2017, Italy – A medium-minus garnet colour in the glass.  Nice aromas of candied red fruits.  This wine is off-dry with a light mouthfeel.  Candied red fruits along with touches of pepper, capsicum and sweet spices. Nutmeg and pepper toward the finish. 4.5 stars5 stars

Zenato Recioto della Valpolicella Classico DOC 2018, Italy – It has a deep garnet colour.  Deep, ripe dried cherries and sweet spices on the nose.  Lightly sweet.  A soft, lean, light mouthfeel.  Candied red cherry flavours.  Light tannins and medium acidity.  Quality. 4.5 stars

Villa Vignamaggio Chianti Classico Terre de Prenzano DOCG 2018, Italy – A clear, lighter garnet colour.  Light candied cherry aromas. Dry, medium body with a roundish mouthfeel.  Red fruit, candied red fruit and a touch of oak.  Medium tannins and acidity.  4.5 stars

Villa Vignamaggio Chianti Classico Riserva Monna Lisa Gran Selezione 2013, Italy – Transparent medium garnet colour in the glass.  Light red fruit and old work oak on the nose that continues to the palate. Add cherries to the palate.  This wine is dry with medium tannins and light acidity.  A dry finish with medium-plus length. 4.5 stars

Avignonesi Desiderio Cortona Merlot IGT 2014, Italy – Medium-minus intensity garnet colour.  Enjoyable aromas of Old World oak, red fruit and red cherries.  Lighter body with a soft, smooth mouthfeel.  Red fruits with a touch of oak on the palate. 4.5 stars

Avignonesi Grifi Rosso di Toscana 2019, Italy – a blend of 50% Sangiovese and 50% Cabernet Sauvignon. It has a medium clear garnet colour.  Light red fruit and candied cherry aromas.  Medium body, lean with a light mouthfeel.  Candied cherries, sweet spices and a touch of oak.  Light tannins. 4.5 stars

Where Can I Buy These Wines?

These wines are not available at BC Liquor stores. Zenato wines are available at Everything Wine stores. Domaine Jacques Prieur Beaune Champs-Pimont 1er Cru 2020 is listed but out of stock at Everything Wine stores. Delamain Cognac Pale & Dry XO Grande Champagne Centenaire is only available at the Langley Everything Wine store.  These wines may be available at other private liquor stores and at select restaurants, but you will need to ask.
