Sparkling wine is always fun to drink; and even better enjoyed with friends or family. But sometimes you don’t want to open an entire bottle, or maybe you want to try a few different types of bubbles; prosecco and cremant perhaps? Or how about an expensive bottle of Cristal and live like a rock star? Whatever your reasons, I have the answer. Or should I say TWB The Wine Bar, a part of Provence Marinaside, in Yaletown has the bubbles for you by the glass.
I was recently invited to try their new sparkling wines by the glass. They have 24 different sparkling wines from around the world, including BC. Sommelier Joshua Carlson hand-picked each of the wines that are being poured, using a sophisticated wine preservation system, to allow these expensive bottles to be opened and enjoyed one glass at a time.
I did get to try a range of Champagnes; Cristal, Bollinger, Veuve Clicquot, and Lanson, but also local bubble like Blue Mountain, and prosecco from Italy. I have to admit that my favourite champagne of the evening was the Cristal. TWB The Wine Bar is a small, intimate location, and does have a patio. I think it would be an excellent place to spend some summer afternoon and evenings. Yes they do have food there too to pair with your bubbles. Give it a try.
