Hester Creek Estate Winery: Two More Aromatic BC White Wines for Summer_PR SAMPLE

My last article was on two aromatic wines from Blasted Church Vineyards.  I tasted their Viognier and Sauvignon Blanc.  Today I tasted two more aromatic BC white wines, but this time from Hester Creek Estate Winery.  I tasted their Hester Creek Estate Winery Viognier 2025 and Hester Creek Estate Winery Riesling 2025.  It will be interesting to compare the styles of these two Viognier wines (in a separate article). Here are my tasting notes for these two Hester Creek wines.

My Wine Tasting Notes

Hester Creek Estate Winery Viognier 2025 (BC $24.99)

Appearance:  A bright, clear, medium-intensity lemon colour in the glass.
Nose:  Medium intensity aromas of pine needles, white flowers, lemon and peach along with a touch of green fruit.  No change to the aromas after decanting.
Palate:  This wine is dry with medium-plus body and a round, thicker mouthfeel.  This wine is either off-dry or fruity.  Medium-plus acidity leaves a medium acidic prickle on your tongue.  Green fruit and pine needles with touches of stone fruits, pears, floral and honeysuckle on the palate.  No change to body or flavours after decanting.
Finish:  Medium-plus to long length, finishing with mouthwatering acidity, pepperiness, and flavours of pine needles and green fruits.

I enjoyed the mix of fruit flavours with the pine needle flavour in this wine. No change with decanting, so open and enjoy.  Maybe try with grilled pork chops this summer.

Rating: ****.*  The Hester Creek Estate Winery Viognier 2025 shows a bright lemon colour with inviting aromas of pine needles, white flowers, lemon, peach, and hints of green fruit. The palate is dry with a medium-plus body and a round texture, offering green fruit, pine needle, stone fruit, pear, floral, and honeysuckle flavours balanced by bright acidity and an impression of fruit sweetness. It finishes medium-plus to long with refreshing acidity, peppery notes, and lingering green fruit and pine needle flavours.

Hester Creek Estate Winery Riesling 2025 (BC $24.99)

Appearance:  A clear, bright, medium-intensity straw plus lemon colour.
Nose:  Medium intensity, very aromatic, youthful aromas of ripe stone fruits, citrus, some crisp apple, and a hint of spice.  No change to the aromas after decanting.
Palate:  Dry, lighter body with a soft, round, light mouthfeel.  Medium-plus acidity leaves a light prickle in your mouth.  Bright citrus fruit flavours, plus stone fruits and hints of green fruit, orange, and spiciness.  Stoniness toward the finish.  The wine tasted a little more off-dry after decanting.  Same fruit flavours, soft mouthfeel, and level of acidity.
Finish:  Medium-plus length, finishing with flavours of citrus, stone fruits, spice, stoniness, some grape stem, and a hint of white flowers.  No change to the finish after decanting.

A nicely balanced Riesling between acidity, fruit, and body.  No need to decant.  Open and enjoy with a seafood dish.

Rating: ****.*  The Hester Creek Estate Winery Riesling 2025 shows a bright straw-lemon colour with expressive youthful aromas of ripe stone fruit, citrus, crisp apple, and a hint of spice. The palate is dry and lighter-bodied with a soft, rounded texture and fresh acidity, offering bright citrus, stone fruit, green fruit, orange, and subtle spice, with stony mineral notes emerging toward the finish. It finishes medium-plus in length with lingering citrus, stone fruit, spice, stoniness, a touch of grape stem, and delicate white floral notes.
