Did you know that Hester Creek Estate Winery celebrates 55 years in business this year? That is quite a feat and offers them some of the oldest vines in British Columbia. I have two wines for you from Hester Creek. One is their Old Vine Trebbiano 2022 and the other is their Character White 2022, a blend of 67% Pinot Gris and 33% Gewurztraminer. The Old Vine Trebbiano originates from Block 16 of their historic Golden Mile Bench estate vineyard. Let me tell you about these two wines.
My WIne Tasting Notes
Hester Creek Estate Winery Character White 2022 (BC $17.99)
Appearance: A bright medium-minus intensity lemon colour.
Nose: Medium-intensity aromas of lemon, lime, grapefruit, white flowers, and touches of mint and peach. You can add a prominent orange aroma to this wine after decanting.
Palate: Dry, fuller body with a round thick mouthfeel. High acidity with a medium-intensity prickle. Bright, fruity flavours of mixed citrus, hints of peach and stem, and pears toward the finish. I also picked up some stony minerality. About the same intensity of flavours and range of flavours after decanting.
Finish: Medum-plus to long length with mouthwatering acidity and tart flavours of citrus and peach. Add a touch of honey to the finish after decanting.
Decant or not is up to you. Open and enjoy.

A fun, fresh, BC fruit-forward wine to enjoy this summer. Citrus fruits with touches of mint and peach on the nose that continue the palate. Fuller body with a round thick mouthfeel. Medium-plus to long length.
Hester Creek Estate Winery Old Vine Trebbiano 2022 (BC $24.99)
Appearance: A bright, medium-intensity lemon colour. It also has small effervescent bubbles on the sides of the glass.
Nose: Light aromas of citrus, tropical fruit, and spearmint. No change with decanting.
Palate: Dry, fuller body, round with a thicker mouthfeel. Light acidic prickle. Pronounced flavours of tropical fruits along with touches of green fruit, lime, peach and crisp apple. More green fruits, and a touch of orange with decanting and lessened peach and apple flavours.
Finish: A medium-plus length finishing off-dry with tart flavours of tropical fruit and peach, plus some stoniness. You get mint, plus pineapple and orange on the finish with decanting.
Another wine that you can drink at your leisure. Decant or not is OK. A more restrained, structured wine.
Rating: – A wine with light aromas of citrus, tropical fruit and spearmint. It is dry, fuller bodied with a round thicker mouthfeel. Primarily tropical fruit flavours, with green fruits and citrus. Medium-plus length.
