BC’s Winemaker’s CUT Bohemian wines exemplify the uniqueness of single vineyard blends from the Okanagan Valley made in small volumes. The wines come from their finest barrels and only are produced when the vintage is appropriate. I really enjoyed tasting their 2020 Bohemian Riesling. The grapes from the Chahal vineyard north of Oliver. The wine is fermented with a mix of wild and organic yeasts. 22% barrel fermented for texture.
My Wine Tasting Notes
Winemaker’s CUT Bohemian Riesling 2020 (BC $24)
Appearance: A medium-intensity, bright lemon colour with a green tint.
Nose: Medium-intensity aromas of petrol, ripe peaches, white flowers, baby powder, and pineapple. No change to the aromas after decanting.
Palate: This wine is fuller-bodied, round with medium-plus acidity that grabs your attention and leaves a prickle in your mouth. A mix of petrol, crisp apples, peaches, apple blossoms, pineapple, and some lime with air. Lots of aromas, but they are all balanced together. Some mineral and honey on the mid-palate while the petrol fades toward the finish. The wine has a lighter mouthfeel on the mid-palate with decanting, plus there is a touch of grapefruit pith bitterness that continues to the finish.
Finish: Medium-plus length finishing dry with a citrus zing, plus stone fruits and minerality. Still has that nice citrus zing, stone fruits and minerality, but also now has a touch of bitterness with decanting.
A delicious Riesling with vibrant acidity. I prefer the undecanted version so that I avoid the touch of bitterness on the palate when it was decanted. I think with the acidity of this wine that it should age quite well. Buy a bunch of bottles.

A bright medium lemon colour with a green tint. Medium-intensity aromas with a mix of petrol, ripe peaches, white flowers, baby powder and pineapple. Fuller body, off-dry with a firm acid backbone. Petrol, crisp apples, peaches, apple blossoms, pineapple, and some lime on the palate. Medium-plus length finishing with zippy citrus.
