Red Tail Vineyards Pinot Noir 2018 (ON $24 for 2019 vintage)
I’ve raved about Ontario Pinot before, and well, I’m here to tell you I probably won’t ever stop. And the latest Ontario Pinot that I devoured was Red Tail Vineyards Pinot Noir 2018.
This was a smooth traditional tasting cool-climate Pinot that was light-bodied with a medium finish. It was aged for 14 months in a mix of 25% new and 75% neutral French barrels. Aromas of red berries, cherries, earthiness, wet forest floor, charred wood and dried roses were the standouts for me.
This was paired with some of that delish leftover mushroom and herb polenta. And let me tell you, mushroom flavours and cool climate pinots are a meant-to-be match. The earthy flavours melded perfectly together creating a harmony of gorgeous flavours that kept me going back for more.
