Winery mergers are expected in BC. We have many smaller wineries that started up many years ago, and now the winery principals are retiring or wanting to grow their winery even larger. With the limited land base we have for grape production, buying another winery is probably one of the best choices to make. This week we were alerted to the purchase of Wild Goose Estate Vineyards & Winery by Burrowing Owl Vineyards. Quite a purchase. The two wineries do produce two different styles of wines with premium red wines and Chardonnay on the Burrowing Owl side and aromatic top-quality Alsatian white wines on the Wild Goose side. I wish the best for the merging of these two wineries. Here is the press release.
