Grange of Prince Edward 2013 County Crémant (ON $38)
Today I wanted to highlight a beautiful sparkling wine from Prince Edward County, Ontario. Grange of Prince Edward’s 2013 County Crémant – becomes sometimes midweek just calls for bubbles. Am I right?
First off, this colour, it’s so aesthetically pleasing. The grape varietals used in this crémant are Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, and Riesling, and they’re all estate-grown.
Next, the aromas. I got notes of apricot, persimmon, orange peel, rooibos tea, nutmeg, and cinnamon… just try to tell me you’re not intrigued.
This crémant is made using the traditional method (same as champagne) and has a delicate mousse (bubbles). The complexity of the aromas carried onto the palate and the medium-high acidity made it easy to pair (I paired it with an afternoon snack of spicy dill pickle chips).
