BC does great Riesling. Our dry hot summer days followed by chill desert nights allows the fruit to fully ripen while keeping the acidity in the grapes. Mt. Boucherie Estate Winery in West Kelowna provided me with a bottle of their 2019 Riesling to review and it did not disappoint. A flavourful delicate wine. Enjoy.
My Tasting Notes
Mt. Boucherie Estate Winery Riesling 2019 (BC $17.99) – a pale yet bright straw colour in the glass. This wine has youthful pronounced aromas of lime with lesser amounts of honey, nettles, orange, orange pith and stone fruits. It is off-dry with a medium body and acidity. Semi-round with a slick acidic prickle, also some thickness to the mouthfeel. The wine starts off with citrus and apple then adds stone fruit on the mid-palate. Some minerality as well. A medium plus length finishing with a mix of sweet and tart citrus and stone fruit flavours, and grapefruit pith. Off-dry finish. An easy to sip wine that could be aged 3-4 years.
Rating: – A wine with lots of lime and honey on the nose which leads to lime and citrus on the palate, followed by stone fruit flavours. This has higher acidity but not puckering due to the residual sugar in this wine. A delicate Riesling that can age 3-4 years.
