The last two wines that I’m tasting from Dirty Laundry Vineyard are Big Reds; a Cabernet Sauvignon and a Bordeaux blend. Nothing dirty here. Lots of fresh fruit flavours in these two wines. Great aromas and flavours. Let me tell you about them.
My Tasting Notes
Dirty Laundry Cabernet Sauvignon 2018 (BC $24.99) – 90% Cabernet Sauvignon from the Similkameen & Okanagan Valley, and 10% Merlot from the South Okanagan. This wine has a medium ruby+garnet colour. It is about 70% opaque from rim to core. It has a lighter intensity nose showing red fruit, toasty oak, cassis, raspberries and sweet spices. With decanting I’d say that the aromas are a bit stronger and I pick up some smokiness. This wine is dry and round, medium-bodied, with a backbone equally divided between it’s acidity and medium firm tannins. The wine is very floral and has red fruit, raspberries, and mid plum that starts mid palate. I also picked up some minerality. With decanting the wine had more plum and dark fruit flavours. The wine has a medium length finishing with chalky tannins, red cherries, plums and oak, then cedar and chocolate at the very end.
Rating: A light red fruit nose leads to a very floral with red fruit flavours. Nice acidity plus fine tannins to give this wine structure. A short will give you more plum and black fruit flavours.
Dirty Laundry Bordello 2017 (BC $42.99) – a blend of Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Malbec, and Cabernet Franc sourced from vineyards in the Osoyoos & the Similkameen Valleys. The very best barrels from the vintage were picked to create this blend. This wine is about 98% opaque ruby with a touch of garnet in colour. It has a light nose with aromas of dark fruit with some smokiness and vanilla. Some may say that this is a cigar box aroma. I also picked up raspberries, nutmeg and with swirling some capsicum. This wine is dry but very soft, smooth silky and plush feeling in your mouth. Very seductive. Light acidity and very fine tannins. Ripe black fruit, cedar, oak, vanilla and cloves, with light perfume and red fruit in the mix. The wine finishes with sweet ripe black fruit floral, cedar, some pepperiness and very fine light tannins. A silky wine full of ripe BC black fruits to enjoy. Decanting did not make any major changes in aromas or flavours, so open and enjoy this wine.
Rating: – A very silky seductive red Bordeaux Blend. Wonderful dark fruit with cedar/cigar box aromas and flavours. A very silky and plush mouthfeel. Spoil yourself and your friends and family.
