What is Nocking Point North?
I received an email this week about a new wine club called Nocking Point North. The wines are made here in BC through The Hatch winery from the Kelowna area. Nocking Point, the wine club created by actor Stephen Amell and his business partner Andrew Harding, is now expanding to Canada! Founded in 2012, Nocking Point is one of the fastest growing wine clubs and lifestyle brands on the market today. With 5,700 current members and over 6,000 people on the waiting list, Amell and Harding have been quietly creating premium quality, approachable wine primarily from the Pacific Northwest region of the United States and offering to their subscriber base solely via social media and the Nocking Point website. Each wine is paired with a unique piece label artwork that exists for only the single vintage.
For Canadians, Amell’s home country, NP North will begin by accepting 500 people into the wine club and continue to grow by 250 members in each quarterly shipping. Once full, people can sign up for the waitlist and will be added to the wine club as soon as possible. For the first wine club shipment, which will be released this month, Canadian members will receive two bottles of the “NP NORTH” RED BLEND which is a red blend of Cabernet Franc, Merlot, and Cabernet Sauvignon sourced from the Similkameen Valley that was French oak-aged for 16 months. Additionally, they will receive 1 bag of Nocking Point coffee from small batch roaster Canoe Coffee Roasters in Kelowna as well as “SNOWMAGEDDON”, the 3rd edition custom Nocking Point Comic. Amell is very excited to bring the wine club to Canada, because not only is he originally from there, he spends most of the year shooting his CW television show Arrow in Vancouver!
Where it Started
Originated in Walla, Walla, Washington, Nocking Point has just opened a tasting room that includes a 50-ft wine bar made from Walnut, memorabilia from Amell’s hit CW television show Arrow, large outdoor patio, hardware floors, warehouse Thomas Edison-style lighting, and crushed velour fabrics. The tasting room is the perfect place for fans of Nocking Point to taste all of the vintages as well as purchase the different wine which is normally only available through the monthly wine club shipments.
Celebrity Collaboration
Nocking Point has also recently begun to include a celebrity collaboration in each monthly wine shipment (not available yet in Canada). The first collaboration was with actor Jared Padalecki who made a Chardonnay-based sparkling wine. For the June shipment, they are working with actor Zac Levi who chose to make two different rosés, called NERD HQ Part 1.0 and NERD HQ Part 2.0. More announcements will be made soon regarding the September and December celebrity collaborations.
