The days are quickly ticking down to the Vancouver International Wine Festival, which if you don’t know, runs from Feb 20 – 28, 2016. Events are held at the Convention Centre, and as well at many restaurants around the Vancouver lower mainland. Many restaurant winemaker dinners are already sold out, so if you are interested in attending a dinner, buy your tickets asap.
I will be attending the Festival as Media, and you will be able to rub elbows and chat with me at the International Festival Tasting on Thursday, Feb 25 from 7-10pm, or on Saturday, Feb 27, from 2:30-5pm in the Convention Centre, West, Ballroom C. Again, Italy is the theme country, so there will be a large number of Italian wineries pouring their wines for you. It is exciting in addition because a winery principal will be there to pour their wines and to talk to you. Hear them tell you about the history behind the bottle they are pouring for you. If you see me, I can point out to you a few winery tables you should visit, that I tasted at an earlier tasting. If I don’t see you, you may want to make sure you try:
There are many more that I can recommend, but I will leave you to explore and find wines that surprise your palate.
If you were lucky enough to buy a ticket for “Festa Italian at Il Centro“, this is held at the Italian Cultural Centre in East Vancouver. There will be 9 wonderful wines from Bottega, Damilano, and Luccarelli. There will be an appetizer, amuse-bouche, five courses, plus a dessert course, ALL paired with Italian wine. A fantastic meal I’m sure is to be enjoyed. I’ve eaten at Il Centro before and the food has always been fantastico.
Ciao!
