From Veneto, Italy: L’Antico Amorini Rosso Imperatore IGTPR SAMPLE

When I first read the label, I almost thought that this is an Amarone from Veneto.  But on closer inspection the label says Amorini.  There is no official tasting notes from the winery that I could locate.  I did find a few other websites that reviewed this wine and it appears that this wine is a blend of two or more varieties; Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Corvina, and Rondinella.  Let me tell you about this wine.

My Wine Tasting Note

L’Antico Amorini Rosso Imperatore IGT, NV (BC $19.99 on sale till April 25/26.)

L'Antico Amorini Rosso Imperatore IGT, NV with wine in glass
L’Antico Amorini Rosso Imperatore IGT, NV with wine in glass

Appearance:  A deep, almost opaque garnet colour in the glass.
Nose:  Medium intensity aromas of black fruits, black cherries, black plums, char, and vanilla.  Sweeter scents after decanting.
Palate:  This wine is dryish, medium-minus body with a smooth, soft mouthfeel.  Light tannins and medium acidity.  Black fruit, black plums, char, and light oak flavours.  The wine moves up to medium body and the tannins are stronger after decanting.  Also black cherry flavour becomes prominent.
Finish:  Medium length finishing with a light mouthfeel till the end.  Black fruits with a touch of pepperiness on the finish.  The tannins bump up to medium intensity.  A longer finish and a firmer tannic finish, plus black cherry flavour, after decanting.

Decanting is better as there is now some tannic structure to support the wine’s flavours.

Rating: ***.*****o  The L’Antico Amorini Rosso Imperatore IGT NV appears with a deep, almost opaque garnet and offers medium aromas of black fruits, black cherry, black plum, char, and vanilla, with the aromas becoming slightly sweeter with air. The wine is dryish and initially medium-minus in body with a smooth texture, showing black fruit, plum, char, and light oak alongside light tannins and medium acidity, while decanting brings a fuller body, firmer tannins, and more pronounced black cherry flavour. It finishes medium in length with black fruit and a touch of pepperiness, extending longer with a firmer tannic grip after decanting.
