Quick Review: TIME Family of Wines Chronos Syrah 2020PR SAMPLE

I’ve been eagerly anticipating opening this bottle of BC’s TIME Family of Wines Chronos Syrah 2020 and had the chance to open it today to review. The quality starts with the cork, which is one long solid piece. All Chronos wines that I have tasted in the past have been top quality. Let me tell you about this wine.

My Wine Tasting Notes

TIME Family of Wines Chronos Syrah 2020 (BC $39.99)

From the winery, the “Syrah was fermented in 3 separate open top tanks with daily punch-downs. It was then pressed and put into a combination of French and American oak.”  403 cases were produced.

Appearance: A deep, almost opaque ruby colour from the core almost to the rim. Teardrops were evident on the glass after swirling.
Nose: Medium-intensity juicy aromas of a mix of red and black fruit, plums, some toastiness and touches of sweet spice and oak. Same aromas, but a little lighter intensity after decanting.
Palate: Dryish, tasting fruity (R.S. 4.0 g/l). Lightly round with a smooth, soft mouthfeel. The wine gets bigger and rounder with swirling. Lower acidity and light fine tannins. Black fruit, black cherries, blackberries, and black plum fruit flavours plus a touch of oak, sweet spices, floral, and black pepper toward the finish. The flavours and mouthfeel stayed the same after decanting, but you can add some char character.
Finish: A medium-plus length finishing with black and red fruit flavours, and touches of floral and black pepper. More acidity than tannins on the finish. More black fruit flavours and pepperiness at the very end after decanting.

An elegant, understated Syrah.  No need to decant.  Enjoy on the holidays.

Rating: 4.5 stars Deeply coloured ruby in the glass. Medium-intensity aroma of red and black fruits, plums, some toastiness and sweet spices. Dryish with a smooth, soft mouthfeel.  Lower acidity with light fine tannins.  More black fruits and cherries, plus a touch of oak, sweet spices, floral, and black pepper on the palate.  Medium-plus length.

Where Can I Buy This Wine?

This Syrah is available to purchase online at the TIME Family of Wines website.  The Chronos Syrah is also available at select Save On Foods stores.

*** I also tasted this wine four months ago.  How has the wine changed?  You can read my review from August 2023 here.  I did not read my August 2023 review until after writing this article and did not change any text in the current review.

I also saw on their website that they have magnums and double magnums of their Syrah, Cabernet Franc, and Cabernet Sauvignon wines for sale.  A great buy and great fun at a party.  The full list of wines for purchase is at this web link.
