It has been one year since our world has gone back to near normal since COVID. I have been told that many people are already getting out and travelling. I am sure over the summer that BC wineries will receive many visitors with children in tow. Here is a list of BC wineries that have family-friendly options for parents with their children.

Privato Winery
Privato Winery is proud to offer a range of outdoor games that are perfect for families and friends to enjoy. The winery features popular games such as cornhole, ladder ball, and spike ball, all of which are ideal for outdoor play. Baillie-Grohman Estate Winery
For kids, we have a kids flight with 3 Italian sodas and three little snacks, so that they can enjoy a little something too when their parents are enjoying some wine at the winery.
Noble Ridge Vineyard & Winery
We promote Noble Ridge Vineyard and Winery as family & dog friendly. All are welcome in our tasting room and we offer a picnic area in front of the tasting room, where we welcome entire families and offer lots of space for everyone to be active. You can bring your own picnic or purchase cheese and charcuterie items from our Noble Fridge, while parents enjoy our wines.
French Door Estate Winery
We are a family-friendly winery that allows anyone of any age to visit. We offer a non-alcoholic beverage on our menu which is a Sparkling Apple beverage from Okanagan Essence. We also have nuts and chocolates on our menu for anyone to snack on during a tasting. We have a grass area connected to our patio where families are welcome to let their little ones roam during a tasting.
Arrowleaf Cellars
We have a picnic area that is family-friendly (to the extent that children are allowed provided that they are accompanied by a legal-aged guardian at all times). You can read more about our picnic area here:
- Our picnic area is a family-friendly and dog-friendly space for Arrowleaf customers. Visitors may purchase picnic snacks in our wine shop to enjoy with our award-winning wines. Picnic tables are available on a first-come, first-served basis (no reservations). If you’re planning a visit, please familiarize yourself with the details below.
- Hours Daily 11:00am-5:00pm from Easter to Thanksgiving. First-come, first-served. Maximum group size 8 people per large picnic table.
- Dogs are welcome provided they are on a leash. Dog waste bags are provided. Please note that dogs are not permitted in our tasting room.
- Smoking is not permitted in the picnic area. Please use our designated smoking area only.
- Our vineyard is a working area and off-limits to visitors. For safety reasons, no entry is permitted.
- Please do not bring your own music and keep noise levels acceptable to all.
- Anyone under 19 must be accompanied by an adult at all times. Parents, please keep your children close to your table.
- Thank you for keeping your visit to 2 hours to give everyone an opportunity to enjoy this space.
Hester Creek Estate Winery
At Hester Creek, we are focused on a true wine experience for our guests. As such, most of our family-friendly options are for adults who are 19+. We offer complimentary tastings at the bar as well as Signature Tastings which are by reservation only and a fantastic way for a family (of all adults) to get together in an environment where they can enjoy and learn about wine. Minors and pets are not permitted in the Bench Club Lounge where we do our Signature Tastings.
We welcome children to the winery and have a large grassy area where children quite often play on the lawn – or if it’s a weekend day in July and August, dance to the live music. In the Wine Shop, there is also a non-alcoholic fruit beverage available for purchase if families are planning to sit on our patio.
At our restaurant, Terrafina, there are options for children as well, including a cheese pizza and spaghetti with sauce.

SpearHead Winery
Our outdoor lawn space at SpearHead makes it inviting for families to visit. It also makes it quite dog friendly as well. I’ve attached a photo here to give you an idea. Often families pack games for the kids to play and a picnic blanket so they can have their own space. And the pups love it too, the coolness of the lawn is a sanctuary for them.
We are open 11-5:30pm daily and just introduced Tock reservation system. I usually encourage people to make a note on their reservations if they want a picnic table or have a dog with them.
Tantalus Vineyards
Tantalus is happy to say we welcome families to the tasting room as many of our team are parents of young children and we like to enjoy winery visits in our neck of the woods with our children in tow sometimes, so it’s important for us to ensure we welcome kids as part of the experience at Tantalus.
We offer a more educationally-driven tour called “Bees and Barrels” during the weekdays that children are welcome to attend for free with their parents – you can see more info on it via our website https://tantalus.ca/collections/wine-tasting-experiences
In the tasting room itself, we have farm-themed colouring sheets and markers, and offer complimentary juice for kids.
Dirty Laundry Vineyard Ltd.
At Dirty Laundy we allow all ages on our patio and in our wine shop. We offer kid-friendly pizzas – cheese and pepperoni – as well as lots of options for juice, lemonade, soft drinks, etc. We have countless families visiting us over the summer to enjoy some time on the patio as a family.
Lightning Rock Winery
Lightning Rock Winery offers a delightful experience for families with kids, providing complimentary
juice boxes and snacks to keep them refreshed. They can enjoy a game of mini putt on the golf green or
engage in some colouring and lawn games. Tastings held on the lawn allow parents to savour the
winery’s offerings while their children have a great time.
Millionaires Row Cider
At Millionaires Row Cider, families can indulge in the ambrosia juice slushie, a refreshing treat loved by
both kids and adults. The picnic area is equipped with games, creating a perfect setting for families to
relax and enjoy their cider while engaging in some friendly competition.
Dominion Cider
Dominion Cider welcomes families with kid-friendly snacks and drinks, ensuring everyone can find
something to enjoy. The picnic area provides a comfortable spot for families to gather and enjoy their
food and beverages together.
Haywire Winery
Haywire Winery caters to families with its kid-friendly patio, where children can feel at ease. Colouring
books and mini-games are available to keep them entertained while their parents sample the winery’s
offerings. Kid-friendly drinks are also offered, allowing the whole family to enjoy their visit.
Sleeping Giant Fruit Winery
Sleeping Giant is a haven for families with a sweet tooth. With 32 flavours of ice cream to choose from,
children will be delighted. Additionally, they can partake in free syrup tasting and explore the array of
kids’ toys available for purchase. An antique tractor out front adds a charming touch to the experience.
Lunessence Winery
Lunessence Winery offers a special treat for kids with complimentary sparkling apple juice, allowing
them to feel included in the festivities. Adding to the enjoyment, ice cream is also available, ensuring a
delightful visit for the whole family.
OAK Estate Winery
At OAK Estate Winery, families can find a welcoming environment for their children. Kids can enjoy specially crafted beverages while engaging in colouring activities at the dedicated station. The winery strives to create an enjoyable experience for families to cherish.
