Celebrate Valentine’s Day with Sparkling Wine

Pink heartValentine’s Day is coming up quickly.  Sparkling wine is always a nice treat on this special day.  I have two sparkling wines that I tasted that I think you would enjoy.  BC’s Singletree Winery offers their Traditional Method sparkling wine, Merryfield 2016.  Merryfield is made from 50% Chardonnay and 50% Pinot Noir grapes.  The wine spends 24 months on its lees for extra texture.  Traditional Method means that the second fermentation, which gives the bubbles, is done in bottle, like Champagne. I also have a Rosé Collezione 96 Brut Prosecco by Masottina SPA in Italy.  This Rosé wine is made with 90% Glera grapes (the main grape for Prosecco) and 10% Pinot Noir, giving us the rose colour in the glass, and was made using the Charmat method.  Let me tell you about these two wines.

My Wine Tasting Notes

Singletree Winery Merryfield 2016 (BC $30.60)
