Rosewood Estate Winery Praxis Cabernet Franc 2017 (ON $40 at the winery)
It’s been a hot minute since I featured a local wine, so today I’m sharing a local Ontario Cab Franc: Rosewood Estate Winery Praxis Cabernet Franc 2017.
This was a beauty.
Aromas of blackberries, brambleberries, blackcurrant leaf, eucalyptus, graphite and tobacco mingled with notes of walking through a forest. It was extra dry on the palate, with fine integrated tannins and higher alcohol level (15.8%!)
I sipped this with a tomato-based pasta and thoroughly enjoyed the pairing, but I could also just snuggle up on a cold day with a glass of this wine in hand and be just as happy.
Now I know I could’ve aged this one a bit longer – it was still so vibrant despite having 5 years on it, but patience isn’t my virtue and I’ve been eyeing this Cab Franc in my cellar for the last year.

When was the last time patience got the best of you?
This vintage is sold out at the winery.
