Speck Bros. Bianco Secco Lazzara ($17.95 at LCBO)
Last weekend I opened Spec Bros’ Bianco Secco Lazzara as a little pick-me-up.
And today I wanted to share my tasting notes on this bubbly made from Riesling with supporting roles coming from Gewürztraminer and Chardonnay.
Green apples, pears, lemon rind, white blossoms, hay, and a touch of sweetness dominated the nose. The sugar and acidity were perfectly balanced (I couldn’t even tell that this bubbly had 20g/L residual sugar) and the finish was long.
I paired this with a rainy afternoon and Hocus Pocus, but here are some other pairings I think would be dynamite:
- foods like popcorn, apple crumble and pancake brunch?
- movies like alice in wonderland, gattaca, and the great gatsby (a la the Art Deco label)
Rating:
What would you pair with this bubbly?
Wine gifted, but opinions are my own.
