Thirty Bench Small Lot Gewürztraminer 2019 $29.95 (from winery)
Over the weekend, I posted a reel featuring my favorite fall salad which I paired with this wine – a local Ontario dry Gewürztraminer.
Now this is a varietal I don’t necessarily gravitate towards, but when I tried it during a visit to Thirty Bench Wine Makers over the summer, I knew I had to buy it. And pairing it with a sweet and spicy squash pecan salad was really one of the smartest choices I’ve made.
This is a small lot 2019 Gewürztraminer which means only 175 cases were actually produced (I’m pretty happy to be part of that club) and fun fact, their head winemaker is a woman.
It carried those traditional aromas you would expect like lychee, baked apples, coconut, cashews and blossoms, but what I loved most about this wine was it only had 2.6g/L of residual sugar which meant although those aromas scream sweet, it was dry dry dry? and it was so extremely smooth on the palate with a lingering finish.
?How do you feel about Gewurztraminer?
