Quick Review: Gold Hill Sauvignon Blanc 2020

Gold Hill Sauvignon Blanc 2020

Gold Hill Sauvignon Blanc 2020

Sauvignon Blanc is a great wine choice to pair with our coastal seafood and now the fresh salads from our gardens.  I recently tasted the Gold Hill Sauvignon Blanc 2020 and it fits the bill for seafood and salads this summer.

Gold Hill Sauvignon Blanc 2020 (BC $29.99)

Gold Hill Sauvignon Blanc 2020 with wine in glass

Appearance: A medium-minus intensity clear lemon colour.
Nose: A lighter nose with a blend of nettles, stone fruits, grapefruit aromas, and with swirling some toastiness. With decanting the aromas persist, but you can add a touch of honey.
Palate: This wine is dry with a medium-plus body.  It is soft, smooth, and round, with softer acidity. Nettles, pears, and subdued citrus plus a toasty note. The wine is a bit more tart, lighter-bodied, and less round with decanting, but the flavours of nettles, pears, citrus, grapefruit and stoniness persist.
Finish: A medium-length finishing with citrus and light peppery flavours.

I like the undecanted version more as the wine is a bit rounder and fuller-bodied, but the wine is still enjoyable the next day.

Rating: Lighter aromas, a blend of nettles, stone fruits and grapefruits. Dry with a medium-plus body.  Soft and smooth with a round mouthfeel.  Light flavours of nettles, pears and citrus.
