Two White Wines from TIME Winery You Should Not Miss

How would you like to impress your family and friends with two little known white wines from BC?  You can with a Viognier and a white Bordeaux blend from TIME Winery.  I was impressed with the quality of these two wines.  Did you know that Bordeaux makes white wines?  They do.  They are typically a blend of Sauvignon Blanc and Semillon, but sometimes it is just one grape variety.  The Sauvignon Blanc gives you crisp acidity, citrus, (sometimes stone fruits, depending on ripeness of the grapes) and herbaceousness, while Semillon makes the wine rounder and can add some waxy texture.  A great pair of grapes to blend together.  Now let me tell you about these two wines from TIME Winery.

My Tasting Notes

TIME Winery Viognier 2018 (BC $22.99) – This wine has a bright clear medium intensity lemon colour in the glass.  A lighter, subtle nose with a blend of peaches, pineapple, baby powder, white flowers and touches of honey and apricots.  With decanting you get the same aromas but the baby powder aroma becomes more prominent.  This wine is dry and round with a thicker mouthfeel.  Medium acidity, leaving a light prickle on your tongue.  Peaches and pears, citrus rind and a touch of orange and honey.  Apricot flavour shows up on the mid palate.  With decanting you can add some mango flavour to this wine.  It has a medium plus length finishing with peach, a touch of orange, honey and light pepperiness. Decanting adds mango and marmalade to the finish.
Rating: 4.5 stars Understated with a subtle nose showing peaches, pineapple, white flowers and a touch of honey.  It has a thicker mouthfeel, round with peach, citrus rind, and touches of ranges and apricots on the palate.  Very tasty.

TIME Winery White Meritage 2018 (BC $25) – This is a white Bordeaux blend, which uses 50% Sauvignon Blanc and 50% Semillon grapes.  It has a lighter intensity blend of straw and lemon colours.  A medium intensity nose with toasty, lemon primarily, and peach secondarily, aromas.  You can add more peach and less toast aromas with decanting.  This wine is dry, quite smooth and has a waxy feel to it (which comes from the Semillon grape).  It has a lower acidity and a thicker mouthfeel.  More citrus flavour with lesser peach, plus toast and a touch of green fruit.  The biggest thing that I noticed with this wine with decanting was the addition of stony and salty minerality; the fruit flavours stayed the same.  This wine has a medium plus length with a very smooth finish.  Citrus and pith and a touch of pepperiness on the finish.  Elegant.
Rating: 4.5 stars A quality, elegant white Bordeaux blend.  Enticing lemon, toast and a touch of peach on the nose and palate upon opening.  More peach with decanting.  Quite smooth and almost waxy on the palate.  Elegant.
