Bizou + Yukon are two Great Pyrenees who document their travels, visit other winery dogs, and share what it’s like to live in Summerland at the Okanagan Crush Pad. They, the dogs, launched a wine brand and I was provided with a bottle of their bubbles to review for you. This sparkling rosé wine is made with Pinot Noir grapes, with the secondary fermentation done in Charmat tanks, like you do with Prosecco. The labels for all the Bizou + Yukon wines look fun and the wines inviting to enjoy.
My Tasting Notes
Bizou + Yukon BEE-zoo Bubbles 2018 (BC $24.90) – This sparkling wine has a pale intensity clear, bright salmon colour. A medium intensity nose with youthful red fruits and strawberries along with some toastiness or nuttiness, and a touch of citrus. The wine is slightly more than off-dry. It has medium semi-creamy bubbles, with higher acidity and a thicker mouthfeel. Strawberries the most, but also other assorted red fruits and red apples on the palate. I also picked up some salty minerality on the palate and some steeliness toward the finish. Finishing off-dry with red fruits and red apples. A fun bubble with fresh fruit flavours. You may enjoy this wine with a prosciutto and cantaloupe topped salad, or a light sponge cake with strawberries.
