I have been a fan of Mt. Boucherie Estate Winery since it first opened and I visited the Okanagan many years ago. I still have a bottle of their 2003 Summit Reserve Semillon that they made once made. They have vineyards both in West Kelowna and also further south in the Similkameen Valley  The grapes for the Pinot Gris come from their Lazy River Vineyard that was planted in 1997 in South Cawston in the Similkameen, while the rose wine comes from a field blend of grapes coming from their estate vineyard in West Kelowna.  The vines were planted between 1996 and 2002.  What is really interesting is that the vineyard is situated above a dormant volcano that is Mt. Boucherie!
Let me tell you about these two very tasty wines.

My Tasting Notes

Mt. Boucherie Pinot Gris 2019 (BC $19.99) – A lighter, bright peachy colour in the glass.  This wine has a medium intensity fresh nose with aromas mostly of stone fruit and lesser citrus, and a touch of floral.  With decanting the aroma intensity gets a bit lighter.  The wine is slightly off dry, with a round almost thick silky texture.  Light bright red fruits, some candied fruits, crisp red apple flavours along with a touch of grapefruit and floral. The grapefruit and floral though fades in and out.  No changes in flavours with decanting.  It has a medium plus length finishing with tart red fruits, light pepperiness and a touch of residual sugar.  Subtle tastiness.
Rating: 4 stars4.5 stars A deceptive wine.  It has a subtle stone fruit nose that leads to a silky textured with with red fruit and crisp red apple flavours.

Mt. Boucherie Rosé 2019 (BC $21.99. On sale $18.69 for Canada Day) – This wine has a beautiful bright clear light rhubarb colour.  It has a wonderful nose showing strawberries, red cherries and apples.  This wine is dry with medium-plus acidity, body and flavour intensity.  It is round but has an acidic edge to it.  Red fruits with a touch of floral plus some Earl Grey tea and pepperiness toward the finish.  Medium length finishing with mouthwatering acidity, and flavours of tart red fruits, Earl Grey and pepperiness.  Delicious!  No change with decanting.  Open and enjoy this wine!
Rating: 4.5 stars Exciting and beautiful aromas and favours of red fruits.  Bright acidity.  A touch of Earl Grey tea and pepperiness on the finish.
