Celebrate a Glass with Herdade das Servas at VanWineFest 2018

Who We Are

The Serrano Mira family is one of the oldest families involved in wine production in the Alentejo region of Portugal. Clay containers used for winemaking dating back to 1667 have been conserved on its properties. In 1955 the maternal great-grandfather of the two brothers Carlos and Luís – the sixth generation of winemakers in the family – was one of the three founding partners and the first president of a winemaking cooperative in the Alentejo. Their paternal grandfather, Manuel Joaquim Mira, was the first to bottle the family’s wines, in the 1940s, having created one of the first private wine production companies in the Alentejo, Portugal.

The Serrano Mira brothers started the Herdade das Servas project in 1998 to perpetuate the family’s historical connection to winemaking, but also the map out and forge a new direction.
