How many wineries do you think there are in the Langley, BC area? Jelly Marketing asked this question to residents and were shocked to find that most people think that there are only 2 wineries.  Did you know that there are actually 7 wineries?  The wineries are:

Langley Passport Participating Wineries

To help locals and Vancouverites know about these wineries Jelly Marketing put together the “Langley Passport”.  The Langley Passport is a map and tour form where you get the passport stamped at each winery above that you visit.  Once you visit all the wineries and collect your stamps, you drop off the passport at a Holiday Inn Express or the Best Western in Langley.  A draw will be held quarterly and you can win prizes from:

You can enter more than once.  I went on a Media tour to kick off the Langley Passport to visit these wineries.  You can visit all 7 wineries in a day.  Enjoy lunch at Domaine de Chaberton or Krause Berry Farms so you have some food in your stomach to absorb the wine.  There are spit buckets at each tasting room, so do spit if you are the driver, or find a designated driver.

The winery owners and winemakers that we met were all very passionate about their wines and their terroir.  There are both wineries that produce “grape” based wines, as well as fruit-based wines.  I do know that some people say that grape wines give them headaches, but not fruit wines, so there is something for everyone to drink.  Krause Berry Farms and The Fort Wine Co produce the fruit wines.  I enjoyed Krause’s Blackberry Port-style wine and their sparkling apple wine.  We did not get a chance to make it to The Fort Wine Co.

For the rest of the wineries, all of them produce wines in all styles from fruity white wines to full-bodied red wines.  In particular, I enjoyed the Backyard Vineyards Blanc de Noir sparkling wine, Township 7 Syrah and Chardonnay, Domaine de Chaberton SiegerrebeVista d’oro Murphy’s Marchel Foch, and Blackwood Lane Vineyards Syrah.

Enjoy some of my pictures of the tour below.  More information about the Langley Passport is here.
