Wandering through the isles of the International Festival tasting room, with glasses of sparkling, red, and white wine pouring freely, are you looking for a friend to share a new wine find? If you see me, please poke my shoulder and say “Hi, I’ve found an interesting wine I’d like to share with you”. And I will be happy to hear about your find, and I will share my wine picks with you too. I will be at the International Festival tasting on Thursday evening. The first night is the best night, BTW, as it will be the least crowded. Plus if you want to buy some of the specialty wines, they will more likely be in stock on that day.
Where else could you find me during the Festival? Also on Thursday, just before the International Festival tasting room is open, I will be at the “All About Chardonnay” seminar. Chardonnay can be made in many different styles, from bone dry and steely, to lush, buttery, and oaky. Old World vs. New World. I think this will be very interesting to compare a flight of these wines together with an expert panel, listening to their opinions. See you there?
Another potential MyWinePal sighting would be at the “BC Paired: Indulge Your Senses” event on Saturday. This one is being held at the wonderful Provence Marinaside Restaurant in Yaletown. The event is described by the Festival as an opportunity to ” Indulge your senses with the best wine and food BC has to offer at Yaletown’s famed Provence Marinaside! Taste award-winning BC VQA wines from 23 top BC wineries perfectly paired with locally inspired cuisine from Executive Chef Jean-Francis Quaglia. Meet the charismatic winemakers and proprietors behind the wines and discover what makes the Wines of British Columbia truly unique.” I love to taste the wines from our Province and pair them with local food. I think that this walkabout event will be really fun. Bring friends along.
I look forward to meeting you. Enjoy the Festival. Here is the Vancouver International Wine Festival ticket link!
