What if Every Girl Fulfills Her Potential?

It’s a tough world for girls. Big Sisters provides supportive mentoring relationships to young girls who may be facing challenges like bullying, isolation, poverty, abuse, social anxiety, low self-esteem and more. Research shows that mentoring has a powerful impact on the lives of young girls. We know that 96 percent of adults who had a mentor as a child say they are happy and 92 percent feel confident.

Since 1960, Big Sisters of BC Lower Mainland has been changing the course of young girls’ lives. Our experienced caseworkers carefully match Little Sisters with female adult mentors who help them reach their full potential, avoid risky behaviour and make healthy choices.

The Wine Auction- 1934 Comte De Lauvia

1934 Comte De Lauvia at GrapeJuice auction

After spending 70 years aging in oak barrels, the 1934 Comte De Lauvia was finally bottled in 2007. Now, in 2017, we are excited to announce that this unique vintage wine was donated to GrapeJuice 2017 benefiting Big Sisters of BC Lower Mainland (Big Sisters BCLM)! With a retail value of approximately $1,450, bidding will start at just $750!

To celebrate its 700-year anniversary, Armagnac released this bottle in 2010 to applaud the pinnacle of their rare collection vintages. Distilled from “old-vine” Baco grapes, this Armagnac has developed into a wonderfully rich spirit. Whether you are a wine lover or not, it’s hard not to appreciate the fact that this wine has been aged for decades, making its aroma more vivid and its taste richer.

Now, imagine being in a room full of unique and exclusive wines. This is what GrapeJuice 2017 is all about! Running from 5:30 pm to 8:30 pm on Thursday, April 26, 2017 at Aston Martin Vancouver and Bentley Vancouver, attendees will have the opportunity to indulge in hors d’oeuvres, silent auction wine items and wine tasting stations.

For 10 years, Big Sisters BCLM supporters, McNeill Nakamoto Recruitment Group and MLA Canada, have been putting on this delightful auction. Proudly presented this year by Capital Direct Income Trust, the event supports Big Sisters BCLM’s mission to enhance the confidence, self-esteem and well-being of girls through supportive relationships with female mentors. Research shows that girls who have a positive mentor are less likely to engage in destructive behaviour such as bullying, fighting, binge drinking, drug use or dropping out of school. It’s a tough world for girls, but Big Sisters BCLM wants to change that. With your support they can help these girls achieve greatness.

So wine lovers, does this entice you to come join Big Sisters BCLM at their auction on April 26th? You get the best of both worlds: unique wines to bid on and the opportunity to make a difference in lives of young girls. Wine not make it a fabulous evening? (Pun Intended).
